GBH: New Studio Album, Live DVD In The Works
July 1, 2005Punk legends GBH are currently working on material for a new album and have about three-quarters of the writing completed. GBH also plan to release a DVD of their set at the Sonic Mania Festival in Tokyo from last year.
GBH's last full studio album was 2002's "Ha Ha" on Go Kart Records and their fans' insatiable demand to see the band live continues unabated. GBH has toured extensively in support of the album — three North American tours (two with THE CIRCLE JERKS) a full European tour in late 2003 and constant festival shows, a Japanese tour in 2004 (including two festivals with RANCID and THE STRAY CATS in front of 20,000 fans in Tokyo and 15,000 in Osaka) and two tours of Brazil and Argentina. This past April, the band played The Stavanger Festival in Norway and flew to Spain for a festival in Granada the following day.
Since their last U.S. tour in September 2004, GBH have released "Cruel and Unusual", a compilation on Rock Idol Records of two out-of-print GBH/BILLY CLUB EPs and four live tracks, and the DVD "GBH: Kawasaki Live/Brit Boys Attacked By Brats".
Secret Films and Music Video Distributors just released GBH's new DVD, "Charged GBH - On Stage City Baby Attacked By Rats", recorded on August 29, 2004, at The Coronet in London. The DVD features the full concert as well as an interview with the band and backstage antics.
In the United Kingdom, Sanctuary Records has released a 2-CD anthology entitled "Dead On Arrival". Featuring 50 songs spanning the band's history, "Dead on Arrival" contains both fan favorites as well as hard-to-find tracks. The band will be selling this sought-after disc at all of their shows on the tour.
GBH fans can expect a high-energy night of classic songs such as "Race Against Time", "City Baby Attacked By Rats", and "Give Me Fire", as well as tracks from "Ha Ha", and even several new, unreleased songs.
